The mezzanine

The mezzanine as an intermediate floor is a horizontal division between heated spaces.

Mezzanines must be acoustically insulated against sound transfer. In multiresidential buildings, additional thermal insulation is advisable to prevent heat losses from heated to uninhabited dwelling units. Often, this thermal insulation layer may be used as an installation layer for floor heating.
